“ I've forgotten my *@!&?!% USB Again! AAAAAAHHH!!!
”
(I know I am sick
and tired of doing this!!!).
Ever left your USB flash memory somewhere silly? Well here is one solution to increase your chances of getting the darned thing back. LostAndFound works by installing an autorun.inf file linking to itself and prompting the user with your contact details should the USB be lost. After this the devices return is purely at the discretion of the person who found it. Written in AutoIT3, this solution is simple but useful.

Sadly, in Microsoft's infinite wisdom, the autorun.inf does not fully work on removable media as of Windows 7. There is a good reason for this, it halts the spread of autorun viruses however, this could have been solved with a more elegant, and less lazy solution than just partially turning off autorun on removable media. Alas, I have thought of this and for machines that do not support autorun.inf on removable media, LostAndFound re-labels the drive to something like your name or email address to make it more likely you will be contacted for it's return.
As it stands, the current compatibility is as follows:
Full Compatibility: Windows 2000/XP/Vista (Without 967940 Security patch)
Partial Compatibility: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

To install LostAndFound, simply place LostAndFound.exe anywhere on your removable media and execute it. The program does the rest.
